Tent camps being dismantled in Ingushetia

Tent camps continue to be dismantled in Ingushetia as refugees return to Chechnya, Alaudin Khisimikov, a senior official in the Chechen migration department's office in Ingushetia, told Interfax on Tuesday.

In November 2003, a total of 292 families, or 1,762 people, returned to Chechnya from Ingushetia and 47 tents were dismantled.

The Alina temporary settlement center in the village of Ordzhonikidzevskaya in Ingushetia's Sunzha district was closed on December 1. This measure was authorized by a resolution issued by the Russian Interior Ministry's federal migration service on November 17. The same document also allocates extra funds to finance the transfer of internally displaced persons to their new homes in Chechnya and Ingushetia, Khisimikov said.
