Policemen threw grenades at civilians' houses in Dagestan, witnesses assert

Armed policemen, who went this morning around households in the village Mutsalaul of Khasavyurt District, threw grenades to the house where brothers Ali and Umar named Zainalabidov lived. As a result, the building received considerable damage, the "Caucasian Knot" was told by Rasul Magomedkhanov, a resident of the village.

"The brothers had two houses at the common courtyard. They slept in one house, and the policemen knocked on the other one. Having received no response, power agents simply threw grenades and smoke bombs to the house. The brothers woke up and rushed out into the street, the policemen realized their mistake, but failed to talk to the brothers. Although later Abidin Karchigaev, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan met the uncle of the aggrieved brothers, and he promised to compensate for partially damaged house," said Rasul Magomedkhanov.

He told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the brothers are orphans, their father and mother died of tuberculosis, and the brothers themselves suffer from the severe form of this disease.

The officials of the OVD (Interior Division) of Khasavyurt District refused to talk; the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by the Dagestan MIA's press service that they know nothing about the incident.
