Searches conducted in Novy Khushet, Dagestan, two persons detained

Gadjimagomed Makhmudov, a resident of the township of Novy Khushet, Lenin District of Makhachkala, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that in the morning on June 11 many township houses were searched; Ramil Magomedov and Akhmed Omarov were detained.

"The township was blocked by ATCs (armoured troop carriers) with unjacketed machine guns. Then, a bus with armed men drove in. Some of them were in masks, others without them; some were in military uniform, others in civilian clothes. They started searching houses, one by one, and recording data of all the tenants without explaining anything; they behaved very rudely," said the source.

"They began searching the house where Ramil Magomedov, 19, lived. He had a beard, which power agents did not like. At that moment, Akhmed Omar came to visit his friend Ramil; he had a beard too and started asking about the reason of that close attention of policemen to his friend. In response he heard just swearing," said Makhmudov.

He heard the words of law enforcers, one of whom said that such "bearded Wahhabis should be shot dead right away." Magomedov and Omarov were taken away to some unknown place. Their relatives and friends are looking for them, but cannot find," said the source.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the on duty unit of the Lenin ROVD (District Interior Division) of Makhachkala and Dagestan MIA that they knew nothing about the incident.
