Opposition activist Sasun Mikaelyan is at large in Armenia
Today, on May 27, Sasun Mikaelyan, one of the most famous commanders of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, was set free from the penal institution "Prisoners' Hospital".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 29 Ovik Abramyan, Chairman of the National Assembly addressed President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan asking him to pardon Sasun Mikaelyan. On May 26, the National Assembly approved the draft law "On Amnesty", initiated by President Serzh Sargsyan.
At the door of the hospital, Mikaelyan was greeted by his comrades from the Armenian National Congress (ANC), relatives and representatives of broad public.
"Also within the approved amnesty, Ara Ovannisyan and Nikol Pashinyan, activists of the opposition, convicted on the so-called 'March 1 case', will be also released from imprisonment," said Grayr Tovmasyan, the Minister of Justice.
