Match "Terek"-"Anji" in Grozny was accompanied by unprecedented security measures

The first official football match at the new Akhmad Kadyrov Stadium, opened on May 11 in Grozny, passed peacefully. Grozny "Terek" beat Makhachkala "Anji" 1:0. Football fans note that security measures at the stadium were unprecedented.

"All the fans were driven through metal detectors and personally searched. The access to the stadium and the site itself was controlled by OMON (riot police) fighters and MIA agents in plain clothes," said Usam, a resident of Grozny.

Students of Grozny universities, colleges and vocational schools assert that their presence at the match was "voluntary-compulsory". Many of them, according to their story, had been warned that in case they failed to appear at the match they would not be admitted to examinations and tests.

According to their story, almost all more or less broad-scale events are held in the republic with participation of students and schoolchildren, who are brought by buses to the venues of various actions and sports competitions. "Every time the authorities need it, they use us as free-of-charge crowd; and we can do nothing with it," students say.
