Former Armenian premier urges opposition to unite to remove authorities

"The opposition must unite and take resolute actions to dismiss the authorities by the active Constitution," Aram Sarkisian, a Political Council member of the "Anrapetutyun" (Republic) Party and former prime minister, announced at the extraordinary party congress on November 2.

According to him, the opposition is also responsible that the people have lost their faith in the future.

The former prime minister especially stressed it was obligatory that the authorities would be replaced by the opposition forces in order not to allow "the interference from the outside that will lead to the reproduction of Robert Kocharian' power."

Aram Sarkisian dwelled on the Karabakh problem saying Armenia was fortunate that the election held in Azerbaijan were not legitimate too: "Can you just imagine what would have happened if the legitimate president had been elected in Azerbaijan? If his words had reflected the people's will. But had the president we elected been legitimate, the Karabakh issue would have been settled in our favor. The man who loves Karabakh would have not clung to his chair in that case."
