"Elitprom" broke ecological legislation in Astrakhan Region, Prosecutor's Office assert

In the Astrakhan Region, the prosecutor's check of compliance with the environmental legislation of the "Elitprom" Company, which owns petrochemical production facilities in the Nariman District of the Region, detected many serious violations, which may lead to suspension of the work of the Company.

"The Company is manufacturing asphalt-concrete mixes and operates storage capacities for transformer oils and bitumen. The territory of the enterprise is contaminated with residues of additives to bitumen, transformer oil and solid wastes. In the course of manufacture, in violation of the federal legislation, they release harmful substances into the atmosphere without a respective permit," runs the statement of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The Centre for Laboratory Analysis and Technical Measurements for the Astrakhan Region is now analysing soil samples taken in the territory of the enterprise. After establishment the waste toxicity, the issue will be considered on compensating the harm caused to the environment.

As reported by the website of the Prosecutor's Office of the Astrakhan Region, the District Prosecutor has initiated administrative proceedings against the company and director of the enterprise.

A petition was sent to the court on conservation (suspension) of stationary sources of hazardous emissions - until all the necessary permits are duly obtained, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
