Georgia's MIA is investigating Amiko Gulordava's kidnapping

The law enforcement bodies of Georgia are now collecting evidences on abduction of Amiko Gulordava, a resident of Chkadua village, Zugdidi District.

Mr Gulordava was kidnapped on November 25 from his house in the Zugdidi District and was held captive for 23 days in the territory of Abkhazia. The kidnappers claimed ransom of 500,000 laris from his family; however, on December 18 he was released for 50,000 laris.

"So far, we don't know who had kidnapped Amiko Gulordava - armed formations beyond Tbilisi's control, or power forces of the Republic of Abkhazia," Shota Utiashvili, Head of the Information and Analysis Department of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, the issue of Gulordava's abduction will be raised before the Abkhazian party at the five-party meeting within the mechanism to prevent and respond to incidents in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone, to be held on January 26, 2011.
