150 unsanctioned marchers detained in Volgograd
They tried to hold an unsanctioned action under nationalist slogans. As reported by Alexander Kravchenko, head of the Regional GUVD, a group of young persons formed a column in the centre of the city: "Youngsters in masks were chanting nationalist slogans and tried to provoke unrest. The militia managed to stop their actions."
"We knew in advance about the action and involved more than 500 militiamen," the "Interfax" quotes Mr Kravchenko as saying. "There were no clashes in the course of it."
According to his story, more than 150 persons were detained; all of them were brought to the GUVD for identification. He added that practically none of them rendered resistance.
