A Russian serviceman wounded in Chechnya
Last night servicemen of federal forces were fired upon by unidentified persons in Urus-Martan district of Chechnya. One of the servicemen was taken to hospital. In Achkhoy-Martan district, too, operations are in process for search of the persons who in the evening of December, 15, fired upon a militia checkpoint, two officers of the Ministry of Interior Affairs were wounded as a result.
"Tonight, after two a.m., a group of unidentified people, supposedly members of illegal paramilitary groups, in a forest area of the village of Roshni-Chu, Urus-Martan district, fired from self-firers at the servicemen of a unit of Inner troops of Ministry of Interior Affairs of Russia who were staying in a cover. One of the solders was hospitalized with a gunshot wounding", a reporter of "Caucasian Knot" was told in the military commandant's office of the republic.
According to our interlocutor, the servicemen opened fire in return. "The gangsters hid themselves in the forest massif. Search of the gunmen is going on", he said.
This was already the second attack at servicemen of enforcement agencies in Chechnya for the past day and night. On December 15, at about 21:00, unidentified persons fired upon a militia checkpoint in Achkhoy-Martan district neighbouring Urus-Martan one. Two servicemen of Achkhoy-Martan district Department of Interior Affairs were wounded and taken to hospital.
