University Rector, where perished studied had studied, applies for resignation
Leonid Zelentsov, Rector of Rostov State Building University (RSBU), where the perished Maxim Sychov was a student, has submitted a resignation application. This was announced today by Vasily Golubev, Governor of the Rostov Region.
According to his version, it was revealed that the problematic relationship among students of the university were systemic in their nature, the "Interfax" reports.
On December 14, Igor Guskov, Regional Minister of Education, said that one month before his death Sychov reported to the Dean's Office about his conflict relations with three students from Ingushetia, with whom he lived in one room in the hostel. The minister said that the university administration had failed to react to his complaint, which was an indirect cause of the tragedy."
According to Mr Guskov, the commandant of the RSBU hostel has been already dismissed from his post. The Vice-Rector for Education was reprimanded, the "Rosbalt" reports.
Earlier, the RSBU bosses denied that the deceased student had conflicts with other students.
Today, a lecture was given at the RSBU by Alexei Beskopylny, Vice-Rector on Education, in which he urged young people to abstain from engaging in actions, which may grow into riots, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
Alexei Lapin, head of the regional GUVD (Chief Interior Department), in his turn, told reporters that it was decided to suppress Caucasian dances in the streets of the city.
