Rostov-on-Don: organizers of rally in memory of perished student apologize to Muslims

The organizers of the rally in memory of the deceased student Maxim Sychov in Rostov-on-Don apologized to Muslims for some of the slogans, which were heard in the course of the march. They were chanted either by provocateurs or representatives of the marginalized youth, said Arthur Zykov, acting head of the public movement "Tikhiy Don".

The meeting of the "Tikhiy Don" activists with representatives of Muslim communities of Rostov-on-Don took place today in the permanent representative office of President of Ingushetia. Arthur Zykov spoke on behalf of all the Russians, who took part in the march to the Theatre Square.

"Last Sunday, during the march of students, calls were shouted out, which offended the feelings of Muslim believers living not only in Northern Caucasus, but in Russia as a whole. We condemn these appeals," said Arthur Zykov.

"We not only condemn these calls but also apologize to the Muslim population of Russia," said the head of the "Tikhiy Don".

The apologies were accepted by the representatives of the communities of Chechnya, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and Cossacks who were present at the meeting.
