Zaur Alibekov, missing resident of Dagestan, found murdered

On December 12, Zaur Alibekov, a resident of the village of Sultanyangiyurt, Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, who disappeared on December 8, was found dead. As reported by his wife Gulnara Alibekova, her husband's body had numerous traces of torture and gunshot wounds.

Let us remind you that Gulnara announced his disappearance on December 9, after Zaur - owner and seller at the store "Autograd" - did not come home from his work in the evening.

"His body was found by shepherds in the bottom of a gorge near the village of Madzhalis, Kaytag District. Apparently, he was thrown from a great height, because his skull was broken in several places. His body had visible signs of torture and gunshot wounds," Gulnara Alibekova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

She believes that local law enforcement agents may be involved in the incident.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) that they knew nothing about the disappearance and violent death of Zaur Alibekov and refuted the version about any possible involvement of power agents in the crime.

Journalist Nariman Gadjiev, who represents the "Echo Moskvy" Radio in Makhachkala, believes that such problems should be voiced at the Congress of Nations of Dagestan, which will be held on December 15.

Magomed Isaev, a resident of Makhachkala, also did not rule out that power agencies may be involved in the death of Zaur Alibekov. "These are our 'death squadrons', composed of both Dagestani and federal law enforcers. They kidnap people, torture and kill them without inquiry and trial, and then report that they are innocent. However, the authorities of Dagestan keep silent and fail to react to lawlessness; they dream to use traditional lamentations and convocations of all sorts of assemblies to restore public order in the republic; but such cases do not happen," he said.
