12 thousand dollars collected in Georgia for rescue of the sailors captured in Somali

About 12,1 thousand dollars were collected in Georgia for rescue of the sailors captured by Somali pirates more than three months ago. One million dollars is needed as a ransom.

"At the moment we have got about 20 thousand lari received from a charitable concert held on December, 9, and a small sum collected during actions near the metro stations", Maka Jaiani, representative of the United Trade Unions of Georgia, said.

However, members of the United Trade Unions of Georgia state that this sum is not enough for the pirates demand one million dollars as a ransom, "Novosti-Georgia" reports.

This week another charitable concert is planned in Batumi and the money collected will go for rendering aid to the Georgian sailors captured by Somali pirates, "Georgia Online" reports.

"Caucasian Knot" has informed that on December, 10, relatives of the members of the Georgian crew who are in Somali pirates' prison said that the sailors had received no food for already five days.
