Opposition activist Felix Gevorgyan is at large in Armenia
During the last presidential election Felix Gevorgyan was the head of the election headquarters of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, leader of the opposition and a presidential candidate, in the Yerevan community "Achapnyak"; later he was convicted within the case of dispersal of mass opposition actions on March 1, 2008. Now, he has been early released from the Erebuni Prison.
Felix Gevorgyan, who took part in the demonstration on March 1, 2008, was arrested and sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment under Articles 225 (organization of mass disorders), 235 (illegal purchase, sale, storage, transportation or bearing of firearms) and 238 (theft of weapons and ammunition). The opposition treated Gevorgyan among political prisoners.
According to Gevorgyan, "the reason for his early release, as well as release of other political prisoners was the international pressure and persistent struggle of the Armenian people."
Let us note here that within the last six weeks this is the fourth opposition activist, who gets at large before term.
