Decade dedicated to people with disabilities started in Kabardino-Balkaria

A decade aimed to draw more attention to people with disabilities was launched in Kabardino-Balkaria. On December 3, activists of youth organizations were giving white ribbons to passers-by in the streets as a sign of willingness to help people with disabilities.

The division for working with public organizations of the Ministry of Youth Affairs has organized an action named "Helping Hand". Within the action, representatives of public organizations, political parties and national-cultural centres visited children with disabilities, who study at Boarding School No. 3. Here, there are 25 classes; six of them are for correction and development training.

"You should know that you are same members of our society as all other citizens," said Timur Tkhagalegov, head of public organization of Afghanistan veterans, when giving commandos' berets to teenagers.

The city of Prokhladny, Kabardino-Balkaria, also held an action in support of people with disabilities. Nadezhda Sasikova, Director of the Centre of Social Services of the Population, handed to the guests symbolic flower petals; each of them carrying some written request of a disabled person. Requests were on employment, installation of ramps in public places, and exhibition and sale of creative works made by people with disabilities. District leaders promised that every request will be considered and fulfilled.
