Capital of North Ossetia holds social action against AIDS

On December 1, in Vladikavkaz, the action "Safeguard Your Future", dated to the World AIDS Fighting Day was held.

"The action took place in Universitetskaya Square, near the North-Ossetia State University (NOSU). During the event, activists of the Regional Centre of Youth Socialization were spreading topical leaflets and red ribbons symbolizing the fight against AIDS," said Diana Battieva, head of the Centre.

According to her story, the rally in the city is a reminder of the scale of the spread of HIV-infection and to draw attention to youth problems.

Besides, as reported by the "Interfax", brightly designed banners with the topic of the action were deployed in the square.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, as of October this year 770 HIV-infected persons were registered in North Ossetia, the "15th Region" edition reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2007 North Ossetia had 385 AIDS patients: 291 men and 94 women.
