In Volgograd, employee of the Prosecutor's Office who ran down a child faces charges
The investigatory bodies have indicted Svetlana Ivanova, a former employee of the Prosecutor's Office of the Volgograd Region, who, according to investigators, in July 2009 killed by her car a young child Sasha Kolokoltsev. This was announced today by Vladimir Markin, spokesman of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this May Tatiana Kolokoltseva, Sasha's mother, received a notification from the Chief Investigatory Department (CID) of the ICPO for the North-Caucasian and Southern Federal Districts (NCFD and SFD) about termination of the criminal case for lack of crime elements in Ivanova's actions. Then, the woman put on the Internet her video appeal to President Dmitri Medvedev asking to help in reopening the investigation.
"The incident caused a great public resonance; and the case required complex examinations. The bosses of the Russian Investigatory Committee decided to transfer the criminal case to the CID for further investigation," said Mr Markin.
Ivanova is charged under part 3, Article 264, of the Russian Criminal Code (violation of road traffic rules and motor vehicle operation). She is under threat of five years in prison, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
Currently, the proceedings are conducted towards completion of the preliminary investigatory and delivering the criminal case to the court for consideration on the merits, the "Pravo.Ru" reports.
