Militiaman convicted for murder in Kabardino-Balkaria

As reported by the Investigatory Department (ID) for Kabardino-Balkaria of the Investigatory Committee under the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) of Russia, today a former militiaman and his accomplice, who killed a local woman and gained possession of her property, have been sentenced to long prison terms.

"It was established that in early November 2008 Zamaev, then a militiaman, and Kumyshev, took their acquaintance Zakaeva into the forest, where Zamaev made two shots at her from his service PM (Makarov) pistol."Then, they poured gasoline and diesel fuel over still alive woman and put her on fire, from which she died," runs the website of the ICPO.

According to the investigation, the convicts robbed 600,000 roubles from the casualty - the revenues from the sale of her apartment, her passport and keys from sold housing.

"Zamaev and Kumyshev entered the apartment, where Zakaeva's belongings were still kept, and stole her property worth 60,000 roubles and disposed it at their discretion. Further, Zamaev and Kumyshev, knowing that Zakaeva was to receive 475,000 roubles more from her deal, tried to deceive the buyer and take possession of the money," runs the statement of the above ID.

The court sentenced Zamaev to 18.5 and Kumyshev - to 18 years of high security penal colony.
