One of major websites of Krasnodar Territory suffered from DDOS-attack

Today, a DDOS-attack (Distributed Denial of Service) on the website "Zhivaya Kuban", which positions itself as the Internet diary of Krasnodar Territory, lasted for several hours.

The "Caucasian Knot" was told by Nina Shilonosova, editor-in-chief of "Zhivaya Kuban", that the DDOS-attack on the website today at 4:00 p.m. Moscow time. "17,000 of the so-called 'users' per minute; and it lasted for 2.5 hours," she said. "Our programmers managed to repel the attack, but half an hour later the website was brought down completely."

According to the editor-in-chief, the website was restored only two hours later with the help of Moscow specialists.

The editorial board of "Zhivaya Kuban" does not exclude that the attack had to do with the lively debates on the situation in the Krasnodar Territory launched by the visitors of the portal.

Let us note here that the "Zhivaya Kuban" positions itself as an independent regional information and analytical resource, the content of which is responsibility of the information agency of the same name. The core of its content is made of by main regional news, experts' opinions, comments, users' blogs and discussions on the forum. It is also worth noting that recently readers have organized large-scale debates on the tragedy in Kuschevskaya village and situation in the Krasnodar Territory as a whole.
