EU and Georgia sign Readmission Agreement
On Monday, November 22, in Brussels, officials of the European Union and Georgia signed the Readmission Agreement, which establishes mutual procedures for repatriation of illegal migrants.
The agreement is valid in both directions: the EU countries also undertake to receive the Europeans residing illegally in Georgia, the "GeorgiaTimes.info" reports.
Let us remind you that in June this year about 30 Georgian citizens were deported from Poland, where they got illegally in 2009. This February, 20 Georgian citizens were deported from Poland, where they had been detained for breaking immigration regulations and absence of necessary documents. Earlier, Konstantin Kavtaradze had stated that about four thousand citizens of Georgia would be expelled from Poland in the coming months. Deportation of Georgian illegal immigrants from Poland is made twice a month.
