Karachay-Cherkessia opens medrese for orphans
In Karachay-Cherkessia, in the village of Uchkeken, Malokarachaev District, a Republic's medrese for orphans and children from poor families was opened.
The main mission of the medrese-boarding school is to bring young people up in line with moral norms and principles of Islam, grow them as decent citizens, able to benefit their families and society as a whole.
The medrese will teach the Islam basics, while pupils will receive their remaining education at the traditional secondary school of the Uchkeken village. The pupils of the medrese will live in a comfortable hostel, where they are promised to get adequate nutrition, the "Interfax-South" writes.
The medrese-boarding school has already taken 20 pupils; and next year there will be 50 of them from all cities and districts of Karachay-Cherkessia.
The creation of the medrese was sponsored by the head of Karachay-Cherkessia Boris Ebzeev, heads of local organizations and enterprises, and ordinary residents.
