Local resident disappears in Dagestan

Khanifat Gichueva, a resident of Chernyaevka village, Kizlyar District of Dagestan, has reported that on November 17 her husband - Sheikhulislam Abusupyanov - did not come home. The woman believes that he was kidnapped by power agents.

She told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that yesterday her husband left in his car for Kizlyar to make some documents at the Bureau of Technical Inventory. "A few hours later I called him, but nobody answered. Then I called his relatives; they visited all militia stations but were told that nobody knew Sheikhulislam's whereabouts. My husband's brother filed an application to the district prosecutor," said Khanifat.

She added that her husband was registered by the militia as a follower of the Salafi current of Islam. "He was repeatedly summoned to the militia without explaining what had happened. Last year our house was surrounded by power agents, who were not local, but arrived from other regions. When my husband presented his certificate of the participant of the Chechen War, they left, saying that local militiamen had given them data on him as a militant," said Gichueva.

The press service of the Dagestani MIA and ROVD (District Interior Division) of the Kizlyar District told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they had no information about the incident.
