Warsaw Public Prosecutor's office referred the case of Ahmed Zakaev's extradition to court

Public Prosecutor's office of the Polish capital has referred to the Circuit the case of extradition of Ahmed Zakaev, former head of the Government of self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (CRI), announced for international search by Russia. This news was reported by Monika Levandovskaya, Press Secretary of the office.

According to Levandovskaya, the request of the Russian party together with a description of the position of Warsaw Public Prosecutor's office containing the claim of taking a decision of acceptability of the extradition has been submitted to the Circuit.

"The Circuit can either accept our request of extradition and then it will be up to the Minister of Justice to decide, or decline the demand of Public Prosecutor's office", Levandovskaya said. She did not clarify how long the trial might last, ITAR-TASS reports.
