Arkady Babchenko's book on war in Chechnya presented in Finland

On November 15 in Helsinki, Finland, Kokoteatteri Theatre hosted a press conference on the occasion of publication of the book "The Colour of War" in the Finnish language. The book was written by Arkady Babchenko, a journalist of the "Novaya Gazeta" and a veteran of the warfare in Chechnya.

The meeting and press conference in Helsinki was attended by representatives of all nationwide media of Finland and Russian journalists.

"Mr Babchenko tells us how soldiers live in Russian Army. Young guys aged 18 were went to the war, where old-timers subjected them to everyday beatings, while the warfare traumatized their psycho for the rest of the life," the Finnish portal named "Finrosforum" wrote about the book.

Arkady Babchenko was born in 1977 in Moscow; in 1996, when on regular army service, he got to the first Chechen war. Later, already as a contract soldier, he was sent to the second Chechen campaign. Still later, when he was already with the "Novaya Gazeta, he went to the war in South Ossetia. All the dramatic events he saw with his own eyes are covered in his book.

Arkady has noted, when answering journalists' questions, that given the current situation in Northern Caucasus, the general state of things in Russia can be characterized as "expectation of the civil war".
