Gamsakhurdia will sue to ECtHR on procrastination of trial on his cases by the court of Tbilisi
The party of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia's defense declared they would appeal to the European Court of Human Rights in connection with unlawful prolongation of the terms of trial on his cases by the Municipal court of Tbilisi.
According to Keti Bekauri, Gamsakhurdia's attorney, there are two cases in the court of Tbilisi: the first one is on Gamsakhurdia's accusation of espionage in favour of Russia and participation in an antigovernment conspiracy. In the other case he is accused of active bribery according to clause 339 of the Criminal code of Georgia.
"The first case was referred to the municipal court on August, 20, 2009, and the second one on July, 23, this year. All the legal terms of trial on the cases have been violated", Bekauri declared.
According to the attorney, Tsotne Gamsakhurdia considers that procrastination of the trial is being done on purpose, "Novosti-Georgia" reports.
The court has not yet commented on the statement of Gamsakhurdia's attorney.
