Attacks on militiamen in Makhachkala take eleven lives

Seven militiamen were killed; seven more persons, including one militiaman and six occasional passers-by, were wounded in a series of attacks on various objects in Makhachkala. Four attackers also perished; the car, in which they tried to escape, blew up.

Today in Makhachkala, unidentified persons committed several attacks on militiamen. First, in the crossing of Chernyshevskogo and Sovietskaya Streets, a car with militiamen was shelled; then, the attackers drove into Gadjieva Street, changed the car, drove to the militia post and executed all the militiamen there.

According to preliminary information, there were five attackers. In the course of chasing, law enforcers caught up with the suspects' car and shelled it, setting it on fire. The four persons inside the car perished in fire.

"Three militiamen were lost right in the attack, four more died in hospital," said a source from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan.

Thus, the count of casualties of the attack reached 7 persons, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.

Also today, law enforcement officers prevented a terror act. In Makhachkala, a car-bomb was discovered. Explosion experts of the Department of the Russian FSB in Dagestan neutralized the self-made explosive device. According to their version, its power was about 3 kilos of TNT, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
