Ombudsperson visits resident of Dagestan, who complained of beating by militiamen

On November 10, Ummupazil Omarova, Ombudsperson in Dagestan, visited Murtazali Adukhov, a patient of the trauma ward of the central city hospital Khasavyurt, who, according to his story, was severely beaten on November 8 by militiamen of the Kizilyurt ROVD (District Interior Division).

"In the evening, Ms Omarova came to visit us; she asked the son about his health, listened to the details of the incident and promised to render all possible assistance. I'm thankful to her for everything," the victim's father Sukhabek Adukhov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In her turn, Ummupazil Omarova said in her comment on the incident with the younger Adukhov that the perpetrators must be duly punished. "I'll not hurry up with conclusions so far, but it's obvious that I must help these people as a human and official. If militiamen are really guilty, then they must answer before the law," the Ombudsperson said.
