Citizen of Georgia detained in the border with South Ossetia
In South Ossetia, near the settlement of Grom, Tskhinvali District of South Ossetia, a border infringer was detained. This was reported by the press service of the Frontier Department of the Russian FSB in South Ossetia. The Georgian party asserts that the detention was illegal.
"On November 9, 2010, at about 1:00 p.m. at the distance of about 150 meters from the border of South Ossetia with Georgia, a young man without documents was detained," Maria Kotaeva, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent in South Ossetia, was told at the Russia's FSB Department for South Ossetia.
"The detainee has stated that he is a citizen of Georgia and permanently lives in the pre-border village of Patara (Georgia). He infringed the state border because of his domestic needs," said the press service.
Now, the detainee is kept by the Frontier Service of the KGB (Committee for State Security) of South Ossetia.
At the same time, according to the State Committee for Information, Communications and Mass Media of South Ossetia, on November 6, Georgiy Elbakidze, a Georgian citizen and a resident of Marneuli District, was detained in the outskirt of Tskhinvali.
According to the Georgian party, the Georgian citizen was kidnapped and is kept in the Tskhinvali temporary detention facility illegally, the "Georgia Online" reports.
According to the General Public Prosecutor of South Ossetia, currently investigatory actions are conducted on the criminal case brought against another citizen of Georgia - Nikoloz Razmadze, also accused of illegal crossing the border.
