Ten militiamen suffered in special operation in Grozny

Ten law enforcers received wounds and contusions in the course of a special operation aimed to neutralize a supposed member of the armed underground in the Oktiabrskiy District of Grozny.

"The total number of victims among power agents during the special operation in the Oktiabrskiy District of Grozny made ten persons. Two of them received gunshot wounds, while the remaining eight were contused when the militant threw a grenade. Nine officers are among those wounded," the "Caucasian Knot" was told by a source from law enforcement bodies.

The suspected gunman was blocked in a private house in Tramvainaya Street tramway in the Oktiabrskiy District of Grozny. "In response to an offer to surrender he opened fire and wounded the commander of a PPS (patrol and post service) squadron and a deputy platoon commander; then he threw a grenade, which contused eight participants of the special operation. The militant was neutralized by response fire," said the source.

The casualty was identified as Rashid Chantagov, 24, a resident of the Achkhoi-Martan District of the republic.
