Political prisoner Ashot Manukyan released in Armenia
Today, by a court ruling, Ashot Manukyan, one of the thirteen opposition activists remaining in prison, was released before term.
Ashot Manukyan, who had sentenced to five years of imprisonment under the "case of March 1, 2008", was released after 2 years and 8 months with the formulation "for good behaviour". The decision on his early relief was made by the court of general jurisdiction of Vanadzor.
Mr Manukyan, who has served his term in the penitentiary establishment of Vanadzor, believes his release to be a political decision and intends, once now back at large, to fight for liberation of his comrades who are still behind bars.
