Best brewer defined in North Ossetia
The first nationwide cultural contest of Ossetian beer is over in the republic. Out of 500 participants the winner was chosen - Elena Margieva, a resident of Zmeiskaya village, who received her prize money of 50,000 roubles.
The beer contest was held in all localities of the republic; men and women took part in it. The youngest brewer-competitor was 21, the oldest - 85.
"There were not even two identical beer samples by colour, taste or flavour, although all the participants were given same raw materials. Every product was notable for its own unique taste and aroma. The best of the best were presented here," said Irbek Bitaev, commercial director of the "Bavaria Brewery House".
The contest was aimed at revival of traditional domestic brewing and attraction of population's interest to national historic heritage. "Beer is the drink of our ancient ancestors - Narts. Ossetian beer cannot exist without traditions and customs of our nation," said Larissa Bitarova, author of the project.
