Defender of convict in "White Wolves" case satisfied with verdict

Vyacheslav Kireev, advocate of Dmitri Ufimtsev, convicted member of the neo-Nazi grouping called "White Wolves", was pleased that his client was not sentenced to life-long imprisonment and believes that the verdict was passed in line with the law.

According to the advocate, the fact that Ufimtsev pled guilty and cooperated with the investigation had influenced the relatively lenient sentence.

At the same time the lawyer could not say whether he would file a cassation appeal against the verdict to the Supreme Court. "I need to think it over and consult with the client," said Kireev.

The female advocate of Krivets refused to communicate with journalists. The representative of the state prosecution did the same, the RAPSI writes.

"In order not to have any more 'White Wolves' in our society, the govt should tackle the problems of indigenous population; now there are more than a million Azerbaijanis alone in Russia; all market places are operated by Azeris. How many more migrant workers and locals shall die before the authorities finally understand that there is a very serious problem?!" the user under the nickname vep gave his comments on the verdict to "White Wolves" in the website "Infox.Ru".

"The verdict is fair. When shall we start destroying the causes of this incredible cruelty? Someone was tight to note that the reason is in absence of sane national policy. But what should we expect from insane vertical…" wrote the reader under nickname mudrlant in the website of the "Gazeta" online newspaper.

According to the department for combating extremism of Russia's MIA, currently more than 150 radical groupings of neo-Nazi orientation are active in Russia. The figure was announced on October 28 by Militia General-Major Sergey Girko, Head of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of the Russian MIA, the "Interfax" writes.

According to his story, every year new fascist groupings appear in Russia, and a number of extremist crimes committed on the basis of national, racial or religious hatred is on a steady rise.
