Warsaw Court of Appeal stops Zakaev's arrest case
Today in Warsaw, the Court of Appeal overturned the first instance's ruling to arrest Ahmed Zakaev, leader of Chechen separatists. The session held behind closed doors also stopped Zakaev's arrest case.
Let us remind you that Zakaev, who arrived in Warsaw to the World Chechen Congress, was detained by police on September 17. The Polish Prosecutor's Office demanded to arrest him for 40 days; however, the court rejected the demand arguing that Ahmed Zakaev had been granted political asylum in Great Britain. On September 23, the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor's Office challenged the court's decision.
The statement of the Warsaw's Court of Appeal is final, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
