Russian national and cultural autonomy in Adygeya

A conference of constitutors of the Russian national and cultural autonomy was held in Maikop on November 15. It was decided to register the autonomy in the institutions of justice. While grounding such a step, head of the initiative group N. Burkhaylo said the Russian population in Adygeya is actually left now beyond the interests of not only the local ethnocratic regime but also the federal authorities. Despite the fact that the government in Adygeya has changed and local laws have been brought to conformity with Russian ones, all those negative processes that were launched in the republic by Jamirov's regime last out and have gained new substance. There is no sane national policy in the republic; cadres are selected by the ethnic and clannish principle. Economic interests of the Russian population are ignored. The Russians in Adygeya has practically the last chance today - they must found the cultural autonomy, demand that its development be supported by the republican budget; the Russian population must consolidate to assert its national and economic rights.
