Georgian Parliament sets up cooperation bureau with NGOs
In Georgia, with the aim of better relations between the Parliament, non-governmental sector and civil society, the bureau for cooperation with nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) will be created.
The issue of such bureau was discussed during the meeting of David Bakradze, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, with representatives of the USAID and NDI.
"The aim of the bureau is a more active involvement of the non-governmental sector to consideration of bills and work of parliamentary committees. It's only mission is to coordinate efforts of the Parliament and NGOs," the "GHN" quotes Mr Bakradze as saying.
The project worth 6.7 million US dollars is funded by the US government and is planned for 4 years, the "Georgia Online" writes.
See earlier report: "Several NGOs in Georgia held an "action of silence" in front of the Parliament".
