Actions in memory of journalist Larisa Yudina held in Kalmykia and Moscow

In Kalmykia, the opposition held a memorial party on the birthday of journalist Larisa Yudina: on October 22, Larisa Yudina, editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Sovietskaya Kalmykia Today", who was murdered in July 1998, would have turned 65 years old. A similar action in Larisa's memory was held in Moscow.

Valery Badmaev, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Extraordinary Congress of Kalmykia Nations and the current editor-in-chief of "Sovietskaya Kalmykia Today", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Larisa's colleagues spoke to the audience. Everyone who took part in the memory action could see newspapers, books and photographs depicting the life and professional career of the journalist.

When heading the edition, oppositional to the policy of President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, Larisa Yudina exposed financial frauds related to the Agency for Development and Cooperation at the President of the Republic of Kalmykia, which operated in the offshore regime in Kalmykia. By Decree of the President of Russia of September 10, 2000, for her courage and commitment demonstrated during performance of her professional duties, she was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.
