Today, 40 days after the terror act in the central marketplace of Vladikavkaz
Today, residents of North Ossetia mark 40 days after the date of the terror act committed on September 9 at the central marketplace in Vladikavkaz. From early morning, the venue is attended by people, who bring flowers, candles and portraits of the dead.
On September 9, a suicide bomber, driving a Volga car, triggered a powerful homemade bomb at the entrance to the central marketplace of Vladikavkaz set in motion. As a result of the terror act, 19 persons were killed, apart from the criminal: 14 died in place, and 5 persons - later; the total count of victims exceeded 160 persons.
Well before the ceremony, the venue was visited by casualties' relatives of the victims, market traders and people living nearby - more than 500 persons. At 10 a.m. President of North Ossetia Taimuraz Mamsurov came to the scene of the tragedy alone and put flowers, his press service told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The official funeral ceremony began at 11:00 a.m. with a silent procession of activists of youth organizations, who were carrying photos of the perished persons. These were followed by officials of North Ossetia. They laid flowers and lit candles. And at 11:20 a.m., when the device had exploded, a minute of silence was held. Churchmen served a memorial prayer.
