Relatives of Armenian captive who died in Azerbaijan apply to UN

Aiming to get the body of Manvel Saribekyan, an Armenian captive who was killed in Azerbaijan, his relatives appealed to Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations. In their letter they state that Azerbaijan is violating the armistice and captures Armenian civilians; Manvel Saribekyan, a villager from Ttudzhur, was one of them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has already reported about the death in Azerbaijan on October 5 of an Armenian serviceman Manvel Saribekyan, detained on September 11 by the Azerbaijani party.

Relatives of Manvel Saribekyan ask the UN Secretary General to interfere and demand from Azerbaijan to return his body. They also expressed hope that the issue of Azerbaijan will be raised for discussion at the UN with the aim to apply sanctions against this country.

"Manvel was inhumanly tortured and hanged," write the relatives and claim compensation, the "Armenia Today" reports.

Earlier, the Ombudsman of Armenia Armen Arutyunyan also wrote letters to the International Committee of Red Cross and the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe in order to clarify the circumstances of the death of Armenian captive Manvel Saribekyan in Azerbaijan.
