Rostov-on-Don holds Science Festival, first in the south of Russia
From October 1 the city of Rostov-on-Don is hosting the first in the south of Russia Science Festival, organized by the Southern Federal University (SFU). On October 8, the central event of the festival took place - interactive scientific and learning exhibition.
"By holding this festival we want to draw attention to the wonderful world of sciences; we want to help to learn it, respect it and open in people a new thirst for knowledge of the mysteries of nature and our society!" said Vladislav Zakharevich, Rector of the SFU.
According to Tatiana Zasorina, a member of the festival directorate, the world has been holding science festivals from 1930s. In Russia, the new-time initiator was the Moscow State University; in 2010 the SFU joined the tradition.
The Palace of Sports could hardly house all those willing to get acquainted to science mysteries; not only students of Rostov universities but schoolchildren and parents abounded among them.
