Investigation into death of MIA employee reopened in Kabardino-Balkaria
The heads of the Investigatory Division for Kabardino-Balkaria of the Russian ICPO (Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office) have cancelled the decision of the inspector of the Elborus ROVD (District Interior Division) of September 10, 2010, not to institute a criminal case on the death of Ekaterina Matveyeva, an employee of the criminal search, as unjustified.
As previously reported by the "Caucasian Knot", the body of militia lieutenant Ekaterina Matveyeva, 23, an employee of the Elborus ROVD, was found, with a gunshot wound, on August 1, 2010, in the city of Tyrnyauz, where she lived. Initially, the investigation concluded that she committed suicide.
As reported by Khamid Kimov, head of the division for investigating especially important cases of the ICPO, on September 30, 2010, Z. Apazhev, inspector for especially important cases of the Investigatory Division, initiated, on the results of an additional check, a criminal case under the article of "murder". "Heads of the Investigatory Department took the inquiry under control," said Kimov.
Let us note here, according to the casualty's mother, that when she came to the morgue, she found traces of beatings on the body of her daughter; and from her phone several calls to the militia were made before her death. However, then, inspector Nebezhev told the woman that "nobody will deal with this case."
