Sochi court leaves ex-judge Novikov, accused of fraud, in custody

The Khosta District Court of Sochi has ruled not to change the freedom restriction measure applied to the former judge Dmitri Novikov, accused of organizing in 2005 a theft by swindle of 17 land plots, said the court spokesman. The trial will be continued on October 11.

According to the source, the hearing of the Novikov's case was held closed at the Khosta District Court, where the defendant had worked as a judge.

As a result of the preliminary hearing, a decision was made to appoint the session on October 11 at 10:00 a.m., the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Let us remind you that Igor Trunov, Novikov's advocate, believed the prosecution of his client to be illegitimate and asserts that the Novikov's criminal prosecution "is a revenge of the bosses of the Territorial Court, whom he had accused of corruption."
