Bombs neutralized in Stavropol contained about 90 kilos of explosive matter

In total, the two explosive devices neutralized today in Stavropol contained about 90 kilograms of explosive substance.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today at about 10:00 a.m. a message was sent to local law enforcers about a suspicious car parked near the cafe named "Gloria". Militiamen found a man's body inside the car. Several packed blocks with wires extending outside were found on the car dashboard. The car was de-mined. Later, one more bomb was detected and neutralized.

The Russian National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAC) reports that about 60 kilograms of explosive matter was found inside the VAZ-2107 car; it was a mixture of ammonium nitrate with aluminium powder plus a "Krona" battery, wires and car alarm components. Another radio-triggered self-made explosive device (SMED) was found some 40 meters away from the car; it comprised a car fuel tank filled with a mixture of aluminium powder, ammonium nitrate, striking elements in the form of concrete reinforcement fragments, and car alarm components, the RIA "Novosti" Agency reports.

The law enforcement bodies of the city of Stavropol have established that it was rain that prevented to trigger the explosive device found in the car parked near the cafe in the southwest of the city.

It was also reported that the body found in the VAZ-2107 car-bomb was identified - it was Gennady Tolbotov, a local resident. As reported by the militiaman who was present at the place of the incident, judging by the grazes and traumas on the body, the man had been severely beaten before death and then placed into the car, the ITAR-TASS reports.

It turned out that the casualty was a taxi driver; and it was his car. The death was caused by two gunshot wounds in his nape. The man's involvement in preparing the explosion was not confirmed.
