Grozny starts raising money for cancer children
The Chechen capital hosts a charitable action aimed to help children-oncology patients. It was initiated by President Ramzan Kadyrov and is held by Spiritual Administration of Moslems of Chechnya, together with the management of the "Grozny City" retail and entertainment centre. According to doctors, it is impossible to establish the exact number of cancer patients in the republic.
The broad-scale action assumes a sale of Moslem clothing, books and magazines, as well as CDs with religious sermons, prayer beads, organized in the main pavilion of the "Grozny-City". The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the spokesman from the republic's Muftiyat that the revenues will go to the accounts of the children-cancer patient in urgent need of treatment.
"Also, special boxes to collect citizens' donations have been installed in the territory of the complex. The campaign will last till the end of this week," said the source.
The local Ministry of Public Health reports that there is no reliable data on the number of cancer patients in the country, since Chechnya "has no early cancer diagnosis system."
According to a medical source, the incidence of cancer in the Chechen Republic is much higher than in the whole of Russia.
