Two residents of Chechnya detained on suspicion of kidnapping
On September 26, in the foothill Shali District of Chechnya, two local residents were detained; according to law enforcement officers, they had kidnapped and forcibly kept a local resident.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a source from the local Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) that the suspects were detained in the city of Shali by the MIA agents who conducted a joint special operation with the workers of ORCh-1 (operative-search unit), OMON (special militia), PPS-2 (patrol and post service) regiment and Shali ROVD (District Interior Division).
"Two local residents, aged 44 and 39, are suspected that on September 19 this year they kidnapped a local resident from a private household in Shali and kept in a house basement for 24 hours. Then, they took him to the city centre and released there," said the source.
"The detainees have fully admitted their guilt and claim that they had no intent to extort money for their prisoner," said the militiaman.
