UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called upon Armenia and Azerbaijan to withdraw their snipers from the front line

According to Press service of Armenian Ministry of foreign affairs, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon states his view for withdrawal of the snipers from the front line positions in the zone of Nagorno-Karabakh confrontation.

It should be reminded that the initiative of withdrawal of the snipers from the front line positions came from Nagorno-Karabakh yet in July, 2009. Lieutenant general Movses Akopyan, Minister of defense of Nagorno-Karabakh, informed that there had formerly even been the respective agreement on the matter but it was disrupted by the Azerbaijan party at the 11th hour.

Upon request of UN Secretary-General, Edward Nalbandyan, Minister of foreign affairs of Armenia, reported on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh district. According to "Armenia Today", Ban Ki-moon remarked that he supported the idea of withdrawal of the snipers from the line of contact which would significantly strengthen further basis of armistice.

Edward Nalbandyan, in his turn, said he shared this point of view and expressed the hope that Azerbaijan too would accept a great number of offers it had received on the matter, "Interfax" reports.
