Karachai-Circassia stops searching the German who disappeared in mountains
Rescuers have stopped searching the tourist from Germany, who disappeared two weeks ago in the vicinity of the settlement of Dombai in Karachai-Circassia, Andrei Mozgov, deputy head of the search-and-rescue detachment of the local Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), has reported.
"We've mopped up the whole area of the Amanauz River, where supposedly the citizen of Germany could be lost, but found nothing. We did the utmost: over 40 rescuers took part, a helicopter was involved, but all was in vain," said Mozgov.
According to his story, currently, "law enforcement bodies" are engaged in this issue, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
The citizen of Germany Frank Alfred disappeared on September 7; his search started on September 8 after appeal of his relatives. Rescuers have restored his route by the SMS messages he had sent to them and concluded that he tried to cross the mountain river and drowned.
