Road accident causes gas main fire in Kabardino-Balkaria
A road accident caused a fire of the gas main; a nearby house burnt down; and there are casualties.
"On Tuesday (September 21) at 7:45 p.m. Moscow time, in Zayukovo village, Baksan District, a driver of a VAZ-2112 (Zhiguli), aged 22, crushed into a GAZ-3221 (Gazel) van near No. 363 in Kirov Street," Kantemir Davydov, head of the press service of the Chief Department for Kabardino-Balkaria of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies, said today. "As a result of the collision, the Zhiguli knocked down a cow and, having flown by about 150 meters, damaged a gas main branch running along the road. Gas set on fire and captured a nearby dwelling house."
The "Interfax" continues by quoting Mr Davydov: "As a result of the fire the house with the total area of 350 square meters completely burned down. Three residents and cattle were evacuated."
Kantemir Davydov has added that the driver, who had provoked the road accident, was brought to the Baksan City Hospital, where he died from received traumas.
