Stavropol Territory joins action "Russia Against Terror"
On September 3, the Solidarity Day in War on Terror, Stavropol, Budyonnovsk, Kislovodsk, Pyatigorsk and other cities of the territory held actions within the All-Russia campaign "Russia Against Terror".
From early in the morning, people, mainly youth, started bringing flowers and candles to the bench at the Palace of Culture and Sports in Stavropol, where an explosion was triggered on May 26, 2010.
Valery Gaevskiy, Governor of the Territory, also laid down scarlet carnations there. He has emphasized, when speaking about elimination of consequences of the recent terror act in Stavropol and Pyatigorsk that both the regional and municipal authorities are doing their best. Compensations have been already paid out to practically all the victims. In Pyatigorsk, apartments are repaired in 14 damaged houses. The victims were rendered sanatorium treatment.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent talked to passers-by in streets of Pyatigorsk on the topic of terrorism.
"Certainly, it's awful and terrible. Only later you understand that the main aim of terrorists is to intimidate; people should not give in to it. But at first we were all in horror - when they blew up a cafe in Pyatigorsk on August 17. We heard the explosion, when we were at work. We thought it was thunder, as it was raining. But in a minute ambulance sirens came, and it became clear that something happened," said Anna, 22, a housewife.
