Nine fire victims of Volgograd Region are still in hospital

Nine persons who were injured during natural fires in the Volgograd Region are still hospitalized, while 19 more victims are taking their out-patient treatment, as reported by the Southern Regional Centre (SRC) of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) of the Russian Federation.

Strong fires happened on September 2 and 3 in 14 settlements of six districts of the region, in which eight persons were lost. The fire was extinguished in the evening on Friday, September 3.

According to the above MfE's SRC, 531 buildings burnt down, including 419 dwelling houses. 938 persons were evacuated from the fire zone; of them 86 persons were placed in four temporary accommodation centres, and 852 persons found shelter at their relatives.

Russian Premier Vladimir Putin has already ordered to allocate 900 million roubles to fire victims of the Volgograd Region, the "Kommersant" writes.
In total, this year, from the start of the fire-hazardous period, Russia saw over 30,000 natural fires, which covered the total area of 1.1 million hectares. To suppress them, 4190 persons were involved, as well as more than 1000 machines and 13 aircrafts, the ITAR-TASS reports.
